Students from our Spanish school – to a bullfight!

On the 20th August, the famous “fiestas” of Bilbao will start with a bang. This week, or “Semana Grande” as it is known in Spain, lasts for 9 days (something unique to all the fiestas in the whole of Spain) and an infinite number of activities are planned, catering for all ages, tastes and preferences. In Instituto Hemingway we have programmed some of these activities into our usual weekly plan of excursions for our students so that we can show them how Bilbao celebrates in style!

One of the star events throughout the week, and by far one of the most popular and sought-after, are the bullfights. We think it will be of huge interest to our students to get to know this element of Spanish culture and therefore we cordially invite them to deepen their knowledge about the world of bullfighting and join us at a bullfight during Semana Grande.

On Monday the 22nd August , we will be able to see the famous bullfighters in action in Bilbao´s bullring: Cesar Jimenez, Matias Tejela and Ivan Fandiño.
All students, past and present, as well as people carrying out internships and work experience are all very welcome to come along. Meet us in the Instituto at 17.00 sharp to experience this integral element of the fiestas here in Bilbao!
