Spanish As A Foreign Language Diploma: Level C2
For the first time, the Cervantes Institute is offering level C2 qualifications. This means that it now covers all six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) advised by the Council of Europe and its Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The Institute´s publicity campaign for the November exam period is focused especially on giving out information about the exam for this language level. From the perspective of a Spanish As A Foreign Language teacher, it is highly important to get to know these exams in advance and help our students to understand them.
Far from testing students from a purely linguistic perspective – through unconnected, specialized exercises for certain linguistic aspects (grammar, vocabulary etc) – the Cervantes Institute exams test students´ communication skills by means of exercises which bring together all of these aspects. There are, however, specific tests for the different skills: written and oral understanding, written and oral expression and interaction. In a way, this means that it is not simply a student´s knowledge of the language that is assessed, but largely their communication skills: what they can do with the language, how much they can communicate and express themselves using it.
It is essential that in addition to understanding the content of the exam, the students understand its dynamics. In other words: how many questions there are, what each of them requires and how long they should spend on each one. This will make them feel more relaxed about the exam and will undoubtedly help them to perform to the best of their abilities.
Past papers can be found at the following link to the Cervantes Institute website, which will surely by highly useful in helping you to prepare your students for the exams.
Furthermore, since we at the Instituto Hemingway understand how important it is to be prepared for these exams, our school offers specific revision courses for the DELE exams.
Don´t wait any longer: now is your moment to pass with flying colours!
