September schedule of cultural activities
Every month, the Instituto Hemingway offers its students the opportunity to take part in a number of cultural activities. It´s a great way to immerse themselves in real Spanish culture, to make themselves a part of the life of the city and to find out more about its traditions. And, of course, to have fun with the other students and practice Spanish. All of these activities take place in the afternoon, and are completely free.
The following are just a few of these free activities:
On Tuesday, 20th September at 3pm, we are going to visit Portugalete. Close to Bilbao, this little town has a pleasant atmosphere and something that visitors can´t miss: the hanging bridge ( puente colgante.) We´ll enjoy a lovely afternoon and pleasant company.
On Thursday, 22nd September at 7:30pm, we´ll meet up to go to a flamenco concert in the Bolsa, in the Old Quarter. The concert takes place as a part of the “Spirit of the River” flamenco festival , and it will undoubtedly be a great way of getting up close and personal with the folk- lore of flamenco
On Sunday, 25th September at 10am, the Spanish students are going to climb the Pagasarri Mountain. The mountain is 630 metres high, and offers incredible views of the city. Best of all, there is a bar at the summit, so after the long climb we will be able to relax and recover.
Come and join in, and see how much fun can be had learning Spanish outside of the classroom. We´re waiting for you!
