5th December is International Volunteer Day. There`s no better time to sign up!
Today, the international community is celebrating International Volunteer Day. This event was created by the UN in 1985, with the objective of “recognizing the dedication of these people, their admirable spirit of service and their wide-ranging efforts to promote the goals of the United Nations” (Ban Ki Moon). The UN uses this day to highlight its belief that every individual is capable of creating positive change, and that volunteerism is of the utmost importance in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
Every day, thousands of people offer their services as volunteers, hoping to contribute to peace and development. If you have been inspired by today’s celebration and the global recognition of the effort made by volunteers around the world, why not sign up for one of the Instituto Hemingway’s Volunteer Abroad programmes ? The programmes work towards social development, cultural exchange and the personal and professional enrichment of the individual. We offer a wide variety of programmes, including opportunities to work with the elderly, in education, in tourism and also environmental projects.
