Our Spanish students visit the Christmas market
The traditional Bilbao Christmas market opened on 11th December in the calle Bailén, practically in front of the Arriaga theatre, and will be there to visit until 6th January.
The market comprises more than forty stalls, in which you can find a wide range of thigs at a good price: clothes, accessories, handmade articles made from leather, iron or glass, decorations…
Crowds of people visit the market every day to buy themselves something nice, to have a browse or to look for ideas for Christmas presents.
If you still haven’t finished all of your Christmas shopping, but aren’t sure what to get, why not have a look around the Christmas Market? It’s a virtual Aladdin’s cave of beautiful articles, and you’ll surely find something.
Our Instituto Hemingway students certianly did; they had a wonderful time admiring the variety of objects for sale and comparing Bilbao with Christmas markets in their own countries. Some students missed mulled wine, others elaborate Christmas biscuits and some even wished for more Christmas decorations.
But something upon which they all agreed was that it was worth the trouble visiting the market and discovering what Christmas means to the Spanish.
