The Three Kings are on their way! Why not give the ones you love the gift of a new language?
The Christmas period is coming to an end. We’ve celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we’ve seen in the New Year, and now all that is left to round off the Christmas season is Epiphany (Día de Reyes) next Friday.
January 5th is an important day in Spain. Many cities hold Twelfth Night processions (cabalgatas), in which the Three Kings parade through the streets in their floats, throwing out sweets, accompanied by their pages and musicians.
Before going to bed on the 5th, Spanish children polish their shoes and put them out for the Kings, in the hope that they might fill them with presents. Some families even leave some sweets or wine for Their Majesties, or some water for the camels. The next day, Día de Reyes, begins with the opening of presents and a breakfast of roscón de reyes, a ring shaped cake traditionally eaten on this day.
The Día de Reyes traditions are deeply-rooted in Spain, and are celebrated with great enthusiasm each year, especially by kids. Even those who are no longer quite kids might just receive a little something – as long as they have been good.
These days, many people decide to set aside more traditional gifts in favour of experiences, such as a gastronomic tour or a massage session.
And what could be a better gift than a new language? A gift of one of our Spanish courses brings with it the chance to get to know another country and another culture, to discover its traditions and cuisine, to meet new people and share experiences, all the while learning Spanish.
We can promise you an exciting stay in a fantastic city, and reasonably-priced, engaging Spanish classes.
It’s the perfect gift!
