One of our Spanish teachers publishes a book
The New Year started well for Instituto Hemingway: one of our teachers, José Javier Vilariño Rodríguez recently published his book “Heracles, or the fearful distance of the Greek hero” through EAE (Spanish Academic Editorial). In his work, he discusses the mythological figure of Heracles (Hercules).
When we asked Javi himself about it, he told us that it discusses “the traveller and archer in Heracles, because distance plays a very important role in his journeys - due to the fear of arriving at the unknown ends of the Earth – and as a symbol, in the fearful distance that the bow represents in the hero’s hands”.
Although we don’t know nearly enough about mythology as him, and actually found his more specific explanations difficult to follow, we do know that this calls for a celebration. And so we made a toast to Javi and his book.
We’re very happy to have him as a teacher in our Spanish school, and to know him outside of it as well.
Our heartiest congratulations.
