Study Spanish in the groundbreaking European hotspot for accesible tourism
On 2nd April of this year, a new youth hostel will open for business in Bilbao. But BBK Bilbao Good Hostel is not your average hostel; it will be run by people with mental and physical disabilities. It will be the first hostel of its kind in Europe, so its opening is anticipated with much curiosity and anticipation. The hostel will provide young people, families and groups with quality accommodation at an affordable price, with adapted installations accessible to those with reduced mobility.
BBKBilbaoGoodHostel aims to become a landmark in Europe for accessible tourism, whilst at the same time enabling the inclusion of people with disabilities in the tourism and hospitality sectors, socially and in terms of employment. It will generate employment for twelve people with disabilities, and will be infinitely useful to others wishing to travel as easily as possible and experience ‘hostelling’.
Furthermore, the building will help to rejuvenate the neighbourhood, and will put on activities for the local youth such as concerts, meetings, conferences among others. These serve to will fill the area with activity during the day, meaning that the guests can have a great time without even leaving the hostel
