Our Spanish students visit the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum
Yesterday (22nd February), a group of Instituto Hemingway students visited the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, as part of the programme of free cultural activities put on by our school.
The museum boasts a large number of spectacular works, from a period stretching from the Rennaissance to the modern day. Among other things, the museum exhibits a Picasso.
As it was a sunny Spring day, we decided to take a stroll along Gran Vía and around the Parque de Doña Casilda, a charming park in the English style, affectionately nicknamed “the duckpond park” by the locals. It is in this park that the museum is located.
The museum is split into two floors, and these into 33 galleries, ordered chronologically. The museum also puts on temporary exhibitions, of all artistic tastes. This time, we had the good fortune to have a history expert in our group, who told us all about the local art scene, and the history of the works and of their creators.
A trip to the Fine Arts Museum is always a good option for a Bilbao afternoon, and what’s more, you can visit for free every Wednesday.
