April timetable of cultural activities for our Spanish students

Here at Instituto Hemingway, we’ve just published the timetable of cultural activities that our Spanish students will be able to enjoy this coming month (April). As you know, they are all completely free, and are a great opportunity to get to know the city of Bilbao and its culture, all the time practising Spanish with your coursemates.

The Holy Week holiday period is coming up, so we’ve managed to incorporate into our timetable some of the events which are due to take place in Bilbao in order that you can participate in some of the most authentic Spanish traditions:

We’re planning to attend the Procession of Jesus of Nazereth and the Procession of the Holy Burial on Monday 2nd April and Friday 6th respectively.

These are two of the most well-known processions, and so are likely to attract the best crowds. The processions are one of the most important aspects of Holy Week traditions in Spain, so you just can’t miss them.

What’s more, there are lots of other great activities such as:
Thursday 12th: Wine tasting workshop, courtesy of our own in-house wine expert. We’ll learn how to distinguish the scents, colours and flavours of good white and red wines, and leave the session experienced wine connoisseurs.

Thursday 19th: Trip to the Arriaga Theatre to take in one of the most famous Spanish zarzuelas (oprettas): “The Court of the Pharoah”. A great opportunity to visit this impressive theatre and enjoy the Spansih musical culture.

If the good weather is making you wish for the countryside and fresh air, don’t miss the boat tour on Monday 16th, or the visit to Guernica the following Thursday 26th. And why not round off the week with a nice glass of txakoli in the Old Quarter with our traditional Pintxos Tour, which we’ll enjoy Friday 13th, 20th and 27th.

In short, there’s something for everyone.
See you there!
