Study Spanish in Bilbao, one of the best cities in the world

The website “New 7 Wonders” has launched a competition to find the seven best cities in the world, in the style of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

And among such famous cities as New York, Vancouver and Hamilton, we find our humble Bilbao.

At number 29 of the 46 candidate cities in Southern Europe (just below Manchester), Bilbao could be a strong candidate. Among its attractions is the “fascinating transformation” that the city has undergone in the last few decades, as mentioned by the video. The total renovation of public transport, the emphasis placed on architectural excellence and the continuous work to extend still further its cultural scene all make Bilbao a wonderful city.

Further attractions include its incredible coastline, its gastronomic tradition and (why not!) the friendliness of its people. Bilbao is surely one of the best possible destinations for those who choose to study Spanish in Spain, far removed from the typical and too well-trodden tourist hot-spots.
