Practising writing skills in Spanish class
The Spanish class at the level of A2 is working on their abilities of written expression.
Their teacher, Noelia, has given her students some instructions so that they can write short texts and then she proposed the next activity that combines linguistic skill with their own experiences of Spain: “Write about a typical weekend in Bilbao”.
This is what Miguel has told us, a student from Holland who is about to begin an academic semester at the University of Deusto:
“A typical weekend in Bilbao is two days to drink, eat, meet people and play sport.
The Friday begins at 7 or 8 at night with the pinxos tour (Basque tapas) with friends in a bar.
After 11 we go to another bar to drink, dance and talk with friends. In Bilbao people drink of of ´kalimotxo´ (wine with coca cola) and it is a typical drink here. Around 3 you go home to bed.
Saturday is similar but in the morning you can go to Pagasarri (the mountain closest to Bilbao). Sundays are for resting and also eating pintxos as an aperitif. In the afternoons you could also wander around the city.”
A your students…? What do they say about the city where they study Spanish?
