Grammar and the Spanish Teachers Course
In one way or another I have always worked in education, I remember that my first experience in this area was at the age of 14, when I gave English and maths classes to students in their first year (I am talking about the elementary bachillerato, plan 1957, Spain)
Throughout my life I have maintain the link with this area, up till now, not feeling that my profession of being a teacher/ educator is something that motivates me to do it, I like to teach others. It is for this reason that I decided to do this course, which also taught me about methodological approaches to the teaching of a language as L2.
I don´t have a lot of experience as a Spanish teacher, only about seven years, but it is more than as an English teacher. In this case I have been teaching with L2, no matter the platform (Spanish or English) and I have seen the advantage it has for the students in conversations, which expands and further enables communication in L2, because they use the four skills of communication method, but with more weight in hearing and speaking, but implicitly the grammatical without giving a starring role, as well as writing by the appearance of new vocabulary and how to spell that word.
I think that grammatical problems depend on the student`s L1 .
For example an ELE student who’s L1 is a Romance language, present less difficulty than a student whose L1 grammar is Germanic trunk, therefore it is a function of the recipient.
In many cases, practices followed by a pure methodology are not entirely certain, greater weight may have it either, but will always be a mixture of several things and that mixture ratio may vary depending on what each student´s need.
From here, I want to express my gratitude to Prof. Alfredo Orive, for your patience and guidance.
