A revolution in my life as a Spanish teacher

The ELE courses have changed my life as a Spanish teacher. I finally found the answers to questions I have longed for during the last ten years during which I was teaching Spanish to my Czech wife and an English friend of mine. Now, thanks to this amazing education and never ending source of information offered by the Instituto Hemingway, everything is clear to me. I have become a better professor because thanks to the didactic material of the modern methodologies and by doing many exercises, I finally understood the whole Spanish grammar. It was good to find myself confronted with many ideas that I had dealt with in my improvised lessons.

I am a teacher of other disciplines, especially of theatre and some kinds of sports, and I’ve been working with many students. I’m always wondering how the basic principles of teaching (truth, the common feeling, respect, logic, humility, dynamics, spontaneity, theory, practise, mistakes, adaptation, etc.) are common knowledge for all types of learning.
For my didactic experience on stage and its applications, my intention and where I feel the most happy and efficient, is when I’m giving intensive individual lessons. In my mind, it is important to give a strong impulse to a person combined with a huge therapeutic and psychological component during its learning process. I am responsible to analyze the previous level of the student, to teach and communicate with the students efficiently and to give my students some advice. I expect good concentration for a limited period of time day by day, both for the student and for the teacher as well. My purpose is to help my students to be able to manage their own plans of studies (selection of contents, material, academies, activities, etc.).
I think that a good student and a good professor communicate with each other in a good and natural way and they are also very close to each other. The student wants to meet the teacher who himself helps to solve the student’s problems. If you don’t have an idea of the course you are about to attend you will not learn almost anything. For me, the student’s interest and trust are the basic principles of a good conversation and it also improves the accomplishment of the student.
