Spanish teacher training course, theory and practice

As the title indicates, I will make the most of the blog to reflect on how my learning experience has been throughout the course and on my experience of teaching Spanish at the same time.

When I started the course I knew that I wanted to teach. Languages interested me and I lived abroad for a while. There I decided to try and perfect my knowledge of my own language and amd delve into the methodology of teaching it. Despite the general public opinion that practically anyone could teach it, I always believed that it would be a difficult task that would demand hours of work and effort.
The course opened up a whole world of methodological possibilities which I could previously only access in fragments as a language student. They never appeared to be more than just theories.
When I was offered the possibility to give classes, I didn't hesitate. I was aware that it was a unique opportunity to put into practice all that I had been learning. The preparation and planning of classes had become a real necessity as the students with their different nationalities, and different needs and characteristics were actually there in person. Their doubts became questions that I had to answer. I learnt with and for them and theory and practice became two sides of the same coin.
In each class, and while preparing it, I had to think of the means and of the people with whom I was going to work. I had to plan and also improvise, reflect on what I had done and ensure that I didn't make the same mistake twice.
I have studied and reflected on my language and on the best way of teaching it. I have received support from classmate and thanks from those whom I have helped to improve their knowledge of Spanish. I have worked, searching for materials and making my own. It has been hard, but the efforts have been worth it, and I have reinforced the idea that I had when I started the course and when I started my experience as a teacher: I know that there is still so much for me to learn and I know that I want to teach.
